The theory of Membrane separation nitrogen generator
When the compressed air passes through the membrane, the velocity of different element in the air will be different because of the solubility and diffusion coefficient is different. So depend on this feature, we can classify the different air to be “fast gas” and “slow gas”. Upon the pressure of the membrane at two sides, the fast gas such as H2O, O2, H2, CO2 will be collected at the penetration side of membrane when they passed through the membrane, oppositely the other “slow gas” such as N2, CO, Nr will be collected at the retention side of membrane, so finally the separation has been complete. This process above is the theory of the membrane nitrogen generator.
